We have studied the debris flow in Faifa mountains in Jazan province of Saudi Arabia and developed an early warning system to detect debris flow. We have primarily used radar data to calculate backscatter difference between scenes to detect the debris movement. The developed backscatter technique was coupled with rainfall data and field observations for developing the early warning system.
